Vote For Your Next Board of Directors!
Elections for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors will take place at the Annual General Meeting in September. All eligible voters and nominees must be organization members in good standing with all dues paid at the time of voting.
You may recall a change to the Society’s By-Laws last year that makes all memberships effective for 365 days from your “Society Birthday” (i.e. the day you first paid your dues). Longtime members are probably tethered to the old timeline where memberships expired on June 30th. If you fall into this category, you should have received e-mails reminding you to renew your membership. An earlier glitch involving a broken link in those e-mails has now been fixed. If you have not renewed yet or have a question about your membership status, please contact Membership Chair Don Conrad (email@example.com or 314-580-0100). Renewing your membership online simplifies everything for both parties, but we of course still accept written renewals (and payment!) in the regular mail.
The Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019, at 7pm at CJ Muggs Bar & Grill (Clayton Location), 200 South Central Avenue, Clayton, Missouri, 63105. Elections for the board of directors, including a new President and Vice President, will take place here. Only members in good standing (defined as having dues current as of both August 31st and the night of the meeting) and present at the meeting will be allowed to vote (no absentee ballots). If you intend to participate, now would be a great time to make sure that your membership is current. Please join us at 6pm for dinner before the meeting.
The Nominating Committee will be accepting nominations for the Board through July 31st from any member in good standing. The Nominating Committee’s job is to confirm that all nominees are indeed members in good standing and also that they are willing to serve if elected. If they meet these criteria, their names will be on the ballot. The committee will submit a final list of nominees at the August board meeting, at which point you will receive an e-mail with a sample ballot and some information on the candidates. If you would prefer to receive a hard copy of this via regular mail, please ask. You can nominate someone (including yourself) via e-mail or phone call to the chairman of the Nominating Committee, Matt Pantaleoni (firstname.lastname@example.org or cell 314-954-5273), or in writing mailed to the Society’s post office box (Scottish St Andrew Society of Greater St. Louis, PO Box 50306, St. Louis, MO, 63105). Please include your own name as well as your nominee’s.

As a reminder, the Society’s board consists of a President, Vice President, Attorney, Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications Director – all of whom are elected to their specific positions – plus six elected members-at-large and a board-appointed Chaplain. The President and Vice President serve two-year terms while the rest of the board is elected annually. This year is especially important because not only are the President and Vice President up for election, but Chris Fulton is stepping down as President after serving two terms. Your participation in the nominating process and the election is critical in shaping the Society’s leadership going forward.
