Time for another great Tartan Day! We have some great activities and attractions planned for this year’s Tartan Day and we can’t wait to see everyone there. The event will take place on Saturday April 6th (actually on Tartan Day itself!) from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Webster Hills United Methodist Church extension, located at 1333 W Lockwood Ave in Webster Groves. This event is a great way to see and learn all about the hallmarks of Scottish heritage and culture. Representatives from the St. Louis Curling Club, SPAE, Scottish Terrier Rescue, the Spirit of St. Louis Pipe Band and many more will be there, along with performances from Dance Caledonia and the St. Louis Caledonian Pipe Band. This year will also feature a special new addition, a Scottish Tea Room!
Following the afternoon event, there will be a traditional Scottish ceilidh at the VFW Post 3500 at 1717 S Big Bend Blvd in Richmond Heights beginning at 6:00 pm! There’ll be a cash bar, clan tables, and you can bring a picnic dinner while listening to some great Scottish music (absolutely no outside alcohol). For those who don’t know what occurs at a ceilidh, it’s a social event composed of folk music, singing, traditional dancing, and good fellowship. If you’re unable to join us in the afternoon, be sure to come on out that evening for some fun!
Tartan Day is open to everyone so feel free to bring your friends, family, and colleagues! We’ll also have some raffles and door prizes, along with some great displays on Scottish heritage and culture. Be sure to follow our Facebook page for quick updates about vendors and groups as well as pictures. For additional questions, message us anytime.
See you on April 6th!
